Class Description:

Present or host an event with accessibility in mind. Explore strategies to enhance the attendee experience, determine the essential information to share, and how to reach the largest possible audience. Presentation slides are often inaccessible and we often don’t know all the variable learning styles “in the room.”

Using universal learning principles, let’s take the guesswork out of your presentation. Learn tips and techniques to optimize content—this course will cover layout, flow, timing, and images. We will explore the pros and cons of hosting events in person, virtually, and hybrid. Gain insight into best practices for live transcription, captioning, and ASL interpreters. Together, we can center the experience for critical learners and everyone benefits from the intentional execution.

Accessibility Topics Covered:

  • Learn key disability terms, models, and inclusive language practices
  • Plan accessible events through thoughtful venues, budgets, and communication

  • Foster inclusive interactions with mindful speaking and audience engagement and real-time accessibility practices during presentations and events.
